NEW YORK DRIVER ROBERT KRAYEVSKY TRAVELLED WEST TO MAKE HIS RACING DEBUT COMPETING IN THE F4 CALIFORNIA SEASON FINALE
16-year-old Robert Krayevsky enjoyed a successful first race weekend in mid-November competing in the F4 California series finale at Buttonwillow Raceway near Los Angeles.
The first year driver from Long Island, New York performed exceptionally in challenging conditions. First, there were more than 25 race cars on track during his test day sessions; so Robert had to deal with persistent traffic while learning a new circuit. Second, a cold front brought chilly temperatures making generating tire temperature a challenge.
Despite his young age and relative inexperience, Robert maintained full focus and was ultimately rewarded by scoring his first podium in the Sunday finale, finishing 3rd.
Robert started his race car driver development journey by attending two Skip Barber Racing Schools. In spring 2024, Robert attended one of the JENSEN team's F4 Racing Camps at a circuit located in Houston Texas. He made three additional 2-day private tests with the JENSEN team in order to fulfill licensing requirements and also gain critical knowledge in advance of making his race competition debut.
Formula 4 is the entry level junior open-wheel race category on the FIA development ladder system intended to identify and train future drivers to compete in the Formula One World Championship.
F4 California Series is a 6-race weekend championship at circuits all located in California, including the world famous Sonoma Raceway and Laguna Seca circuits that are both located in short proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area.
JENSEN team owner Eric Jensen commented, "Robert and I have worked hard together all summer with his driver development program, so it was very rewarding to watch him excel as he did competing in the F4 California series finale. It was a very long 30 minute race since there were no full course caution laps. Robert had terrific race pace throughout within a lapping within a couple seconds of the vastly more experienced race winner. More importantly Robert was able to stay focused to avoid mistakes, which is rare from rookies competing in their first races."
Jensen continued, "We haven't yet decided the best series option for Robert's 2025 competition. His strong and mature showing during his F4 California series debut made it very to agree the next step would be a follow up race at Homestead Miami Speedway in early January. With another strong result in Miami then we can decide together what is Robert's best path for 2025."
Utilizing the 2023 pro spec Ligier F4 race cars, the 2025 F4 California Championship is comprised of six race events at four circuits located throughout California. Powered by Honda race engines, the race cars are capable of 135 mph top speeds.
