13 YEAR OLD WARD HIX IMPRESSED IN HIS F4 RACE DEBUT COMPETING IN THE FORMULA DEVELOPMENT SERIES
Continuing his race car driver development program, Ward Hix checked another important box by successfully competing in his first car racing event at the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course on the weekend July 29-31.
Ward competed in the Formula Development series, which was created in order to provide young drivers with an opportunity to gain experience with view to ultimately joining the F4 US Championship Series.
Driver Coach Eric Jensen states, "Ward is an exceptional young talent with a very bright future in car racing and life. Ultimately my goal with these young drivers is to prepare their skills and position them to be enlisted in funded driver development programs administered by Formula One teams. One of the best ways to achieve this is to be training extensively at age 13 so that young drivers can score exceptional results at ages 14 and 15; and Ward is well on his way down that path after his impressive performance in his first race weekend."
Alabama rookie driver Hix showed impressive consistency completing every lap of every session over the 4 day event. Hix also impressed with his speed, setting lap times in the 30 minute Sunday feature race that were competitive for the F4 US Championship Series lap times, as well as executing numerous passes en route to a well earned 3rd place finish overall.
Ward continues his driver development program with four more test days in August.
